38 A local lawyer in Mexico will assist and advise the intended parents throughout the surrogacy process in accordance with the law and standard procedures in the country. Their services will include, among other things, drafting the surrogacy contract between the intended parents and the surrogate and registering the baby immediately after he or she is born, and obtaining a birth certificate immediately after the birth. At the end of the legal process, the baby will receive a local birth certificate. The baby will be only entitled to a passport similar to his/her parents’ nationality.
