Becoming a parent is one of the most meaningful goals a person can pursue — and for many intended parents, surrogacy is the path that makes it possible. Colombia has become a well-established destination for international surrogacy, with experienced fertility teams, modern IVF care, clear fixed-price plan structures, and a legal environment that can support many families. Tammuz Family manages the whole journey — from your first consultation to returning home with your baby — with coordinated medical, legal, and personal support at every stage.
Eligibility is never automatic — final acceptance depends on medical review, legal review, documentation, and your individual circumstances. If you’re unsure whether the program fits your situation, the clearest next step is a conversation with our team.
Tammuz Family has supported intended parents on the path to parenthood since 2008, helping to bring more than 2,200 babies into the world across our international programs. The Colombia program is managed directly by Tammuz — the same team and the same standards you’ll find across our destinations, with local coordination in Bogotá.
Tim & Steven – Our Surrogacy Story with Tammuz Family via Colombia!
Every family’s journey is different, but the Colombia program generally follows these stages. The steps are sequential; they are not tied to fixed timeframes.
Every journey is different. Timing depends on medical processes, legal requirements, donor and surrogate availability, clinic schedules, documentation, third parties, and individual circumstances.
Colombia does not currently have a single comprehensive law regulating gestational surrogacy. Instead, the practice is supported through constitutional principles, court decisions, and legal interpretation. Each journey should follow the applicable legal procedures in force at the time of treatment.
Tammuz works with experienced legal professionals who guide intended parents through the surrogacy agreement, birth registration, and the documentation required to return home. Parentage and travel documents are handled through defined legal processes and are not automatic. Because legal requirements can change and depend on your individual circumstances, these steps always require professional legal review, including advice in your home country.
All IVF treatment, embryo transfer, pregnancy monitoring, and delivery are carried out by experienced fertility specialists and accredited medical facilities that follow international standards of care. Pregnancy monitoring may include ultrasounds, standard screening tests, genetic testing, and regular assessments to support the health of the surrogate and the pregnancy. Tammuz coordinates this care, while medical decisions and outcomes depend on the medical team and each individual pregnancy.
The surrogates in the Colombia program are carefully screened women based in Bogotá who have previously had at least one healthy pregnancy and birth. Screening may include medical and psychological assessment, background checks, lifestyle declarations, and a social-worker home visit. Throughout the pregnancy, surrogates continue living at home with their families and receive ongoing medical monitoring and support.

Egg donors in the Colombia program complete comprehensive medical and psychological screening before joining, which may include genetic, hormonal, infectious-disease, reproductive, and psychological assessments. Intended parents receive donor information to support their decision. The specific details available to you — including donor anonymity and any donor images — are confirmed with your coordinator and depend on program rules and applicable regulations.
Legal guidance is provided throughout the process, including the surrogacy agreement, birth registration, parental documentation, and assistance with the documents required after birth. Parentage and travel documents are handled through defined legal processes and are not automatic; your case is reviewed by qualified legal professionals.
Possible additional expenses may include international travel, accommodation, food, document translation, apostilles, home-country legal advice, exceptional medical treatment, extended neonatal care, and services excluded by the agreement.
Yes. Through sperm-washing technology, safe fertilization can be performed. Whether the procedure and any additional testing are appropriate is determined by the medical team.
Sperm washing is a laboratory technique used to separate sperm cells from other components of semen before assisted reproduction. For an intended father living with HIV, the medical team determines whether this procedure and any additional testing are appropriate.
There is no single destination that is best for every family. The right program depends on legal eligibility, family structure, budget, genetic-material needs, medical history, desired level of legal certainty, travel requirements, and personal priorities.
The journey generally includes an initial assessment, selection of the appropriate program, creation or transfer of embryos, matching with a gestational surrogate, embryo transfer, pregnancy monitoring, birth, and the post-birth legal and documentation process. Tammuz coordinates the medical, legal, logistical, and personal elements through a dedicated program team.
Tammuz coordinates the journey through one program structure, including medical coordination, surrogate matching, legal support, pregnancy updates, travel guidance, birth preparation, and post-birth assistance.
It depends on whether sperm or eggs must be collected locally, whether embryos already exist, whether appointments can be completed remotely, and the requirements around the birth. Many families should expect at least one medical trip when necessary and a separate stay around the birth.
Preparation of the agreement with the surrogate, registration of the child after birth, and removal of the surrogate’s name from the birth certificate (severing the link). The CELAGEM legal team also assists the parents with the exit process from the country.
No two families take the same road. Some want the streamlined expediency of a US surrogacy program. Others need the most competitively priced path forward and find it in Colombia or Mexico, where costs can be 40–50% lower without sacrificing quality.
All of our programs in the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Armenia and Georgia are managed directly by Tammuz. Same team. Same standards. Different destinations.

A supported path to parenthood, with experienced guidance from your first conversation through the day you return home with your baby.
Why surrogacy in Colombia?
Colombia offers experienced fertility care, modern IVF treatment, and structured surrogacy programs for many international intended parents. Tammuz Family coordinates the entire journey, working alongside experienced medical and legal professionals to help guide you through each stage of the process—from your initial consultation to your return home with your baby.
Exclusive to Tammuz:
Intended parents consider the Colombia program for a combination of practical reasons:
Who is this program for?
The Colombia program may be suitable for you if you’re part of a same-sex male couple, a single man pursuing parenthood, or an intended parent who needs donor eggs or already has embryos ready for transfer. A pathway using an intended mother’s own eggs may also be available in eligible cases, and intended parents living with HIV may be able to pursue the program as well, subject to medical eligibility. If you’re exploring surrogacy and wondering whether this path is right for you, the best first step is a conversation with our team.
You are guided through the relevant agreements, birth registration, documentation, travel requirements, and parentage-related procedures that apply to your case.
Your treatment is carried out by qualified independent medical professionals and may include IVF, embryo creation, genetic testing when appropriate, embryo transfer, pregnancy monitoring, and delivery care.
Potential surrogates and egg donors go through structured assessment by the professionals responsible for recruitment and screening. You receive the relevant information available to support your decisions.
The program may offer options if you are a same-sex male couple, a single man, already have embryos, require donor eggs, or may be eligible to use your own eggs.
Medical Care and IVF
If you need to create embryos, your pathway may include medical testing, sperm collection, egg-donor selection, IVF, embryo development, genetic testing when applicable, and embryo cryopreservation. If you already have embryos, their medical records and suitability for shipment and transfer must first be reviewed. During pregnancy, your surrogate receives prenatal care that may include appointments, ultrasounds, laboratory tests, specialist assessments, and other examinations recommended by the treating medical team. Medical decisions are made by the independent professionals responsible for treatment and care.
Surrogates
Before you are introduced to a potential surrogate, she goes through a structured assessment process conducted by the professionals responsible for recruitment and screening. This may include medical and psychological assessments, a review of her pregnancy history, background and lifestyle information, and other relevant checks. Surrogate candidates must have experienced at least one healthy pregnancy and birth. Once you are presented with a potential match, you receive the available information and can learn more about her before moving forward. During pregnancy, she continues living her daily life and receives medical monitoring and program support.
Egg Donors
If you need an egg donor, you will receive donor information according to the program policies and applicable regulations. Screening may include medical, psychological, genetic, hormonal, reproductive, and infectious-disease assessments. Genetic compatibility testing may also be required. The details available to you, including whether donor images or identifying information can be shared, depend on the applicable program and regulations.
Legal Process
Your legal journey includes more than one document. Depending on your case, it may involve the agreement with your surrogate, birth registration, your baby’s local documentation, DNA testing where required, passport and travel documents, immigration or exit requirements, and further parentage-related proceedings. Birth, citizenship, parentage, and permission to travel are separate legal questions, and some procedures may continue after you return home.
Surrogacy in Colombia if You Are Living With HIV
If you are living with HIV, Colombia may provide a possible pathway to parenthood through surrogacy, subject to individual medical eligibility. You may be asked to provide additional medical documentation, current viral-load information, infectious-disease test results, and evidence that you meet the required treatment and safety criteria. Specific sperm-processing and other medical protocols may apply. Eligibility is always assessed individually.
The cost of surrogacy depends on your starting point and the program you choose. Factors such as existing embryos, egg donation, IVF, and the type of program all influence the overall investment.
During your consultation, we'll explain your options, what's included, and the expected costs so you can make an informed decision with confidence.

Building your family through surrogacy involves many important stages, from medical treatment and legal procedures to matching, pregnancy, birth, and returning home with your baby. At Tammuz, we coordinate the entire journey on your behalf, bringing together the experienced independent professionals involved while providing continuous guidance, communication, and support every step of the way.
We begin by learning about your family situation, medical history, relationship documentation, existing embryos or gametes, and the options you are considering. We then help you understand whether Georgia may be suitable and which program structure to explore.
01
You complete the required forms and documentation. If needed, you select an egg donor and create embryos through IVF. If you already have embryos, they are reviewed for shipment and transfer. Once the relevant requirements are met, you begin the surrogate-matching process.
02
Your surrogate is medically prepared for embryo transfer. After the transfer, pregnancy testing and early scans are completed. Once pregnancy is confirmed, you receive updates while your surrogate continues with prenatal monitoring.
03
Throughout the pregnancy, you receive medical reports and updates while the surrogate follows the defined prenatal-care protocol. As the birth approaches, we help you prepare for travel, hospital arrangements, accommodation, and the practical steps that follow delivery.
04
After your baby is born, the local team coordinates the documentation required to register your baby and obtain the birth certificate. We continue supporting the practical process while you complete the citizenship, passport, exit, and travel requirements that apply to your family.

Parenthood is one of life’s most meaningful journeys. Our role is to walk beside you, offering trusted guidance, expert knowledge, and ongoing support from your first questions through the moment you welcome your baby and beyond
We’ve gathered all the answers to the most important and frequently asked questions, so you can find clear, reliable, and up-to-date information in one place—easily and conveniently.
It may be suitable if you are a same-sex male couple, a single man, an intended parent who needs donor eggs, or an intended parent who already has embryos.
Your cost depends mainly on where you are starting and which plan you choose. A journey using existing embryos has different medical needs from one that includes egg donation and IVF. A guarantee-based plan also has a different structure from a plan with a defined number of attempts. Before you begin, you receive the relevant plan information and payment structure so you can understand what is included and which additional expenses may apply. Depending on your case, expenses outside the plan may include personal travel and accommodation, certain medical circumstances, government fees, documentation, optional services, and other case-specific costs.
Potentially, yes. Your embryos and their supporting documentation must first be reviewed for medical acceptance, shipment, and transfer requirements.
Screening is conducted by the professionals responsible for recruitment and assessment and may include medical and psychological evaluations, a review of pregnancy history, background checks, lifestyle information, and other relevant documentation.
Your next steps depend on the plan you selected, the embryos available, medical recommendations, and the terms of your agreement. Some plans include a defined number of transfers, while guarantee-based plans may include unlimited attempts according to their terms.
There is no single reliable timeline. Medical preparation, embryo creation, donor availability, surrogate matching, transfer outcomes, pregnancy, and post-birth legal procedures can all affect timing.
Communication is facilitated according to the framework established for your journey. Expectations and communication preferences should be discussed during matching and throughout the process.
You receive donor information according to the applicable program policies and regulations. The information available to you may vary, including whether images or identifying details can be shared.
You complete the required birth registration, documentation, passport, travel, immigration, and parentage-related procedures that apply to your case. Some legal steps may continue after you return home.

Through Tammuz, I became a father.
The team demonstrated professionalism and humanity beyond expectations, starting from the very first phone call—two years before the birth itself took place.
In my view, what makes Tammuz unique is their understanding that they are dealing with new lives—those of the newborns and the families whose lives are changing before their eyes.
